Hey Friends! Jack Frost is here for a little winter vacation, but it won’t last long. Summer is just around the corner and that means Hangout Fest 2023 is on its way May 19-21, 2023! The festival is located on East Beach in Gulf Shores, AL and is a three day festival filled with artists big and small. They have a great lineup this year with headliners Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sza, Calvin Harris, Paramore, and so many more. Hangout Fest is a great way to kick off the summer. With friends, great music, and the beach, what more could you want? This is a great way to come and listen to your favorite artists and find some more favorites on the way. If the music isn’t your thing there are so many other fun activities. In previous years, theres been puppy booths, temporary tattoos, beach bars, a Ferris Wheel, and even roller skating! Find the love of your life? Well, they have a wedding chapel where you can get married for real or just for fun! It is just a great time to spend with your friends and experience new things. Winter Concert Series at the Alabama Gulf Coast

We have a really cool Winter Concert Series coming to Gulf Shores at the end of January. Tickets are $35 and the shows will be held at Erie H. Meyer Civic Center. Doors open at 6 and the shows start at 7. Click here to purchase tickets.

Starting off the series on January 30^th and 31^st we have Jim Witter’s “The Piano Men.” Jim Witter is a world renowned Canadian musician that has been traveling for 30 years! He has been preforming “The Piano Men” for over 15 of those years. He is known for his renditions of songs from singers Elton John and Billy Joel. His show begins with songs from the 1970’s and progresses through time. Showing clips, newspaper headlines, and events from the time periods. Jim really gives you a blast from the past with this show with Witter playing the grand piano. This is going to be a concert you do not want to miss. This is a show people beg to see again and again!

Next up we have Riders in the Sky on February 6^th and 7^th. Riders in the Sky are known for preserving the heritage of Western Music and then presenting it the new generation. They have been preforming for over 40 years and have had more than 7,200 appearances as well as 40 albums! They have been playing The Grand Ole Opry for the last 35 years, which is where you will usually see them. Come out and see America’s Favorite Cowboys and see how they do it “The Cowboy Way!”

Marc Broussard is going to be giving us the gift of classic R&B , rock, and soul on February 16^th. He is known for having a Bayou Soul sound to his music. Marc was discovered after he released an independent EP and signed to Island Records and reordered his first album Canercro. This album was successful and led him to release more albums over the next few years with record labels, but has recently began to record independently again. Marc will be in Gulf Shores February 16^th and then will be continuing his tour through the US and ending overseas! Make sure you come out and get a dose of this amazing soul music.

To finish off an amazing line up of artists Paul Thorn will be closing the Winter Concert Series on March 2^nd. Paul is from Tupelo, Mississippi and makes sure that his Southern roots show through his music. Before pursuing a music career he was a professional boxer with a 14-4 record! His music career began while he was working in a furniture factory and playing local clubs where he was discovered by Miles Copeland. By the end of the month Paul was opening for Sting. Since then he has recorded 12 albums of his own!

Holiday Festivities on the Beach!

Happy Holidays Friends! Sunset Properties hopes that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and we hope that in the coming weeks you have a wonderful Christmas as well. With all the holiday cheer in the air here are a few events to help you celebrate the holiday spirit!

Running now through December 29, The Baldwin County Bicentennial is hosting a Holiday Lights Drive- Thru and Christmas Festival. The show starts at 5:00 PM and ends at 9:00 PM. Folks can expect to see the likes of Santa, Mrs. Claus, Cindy Lou Who and even the Grinch! They will be having games for the kids, a rolling petting zoo, and train rides through the park. Beignets and Hot Chocolate will be available for purchase ( please bring cash).

The Wharf will be having their 3^rd annual Holly Days on Main Festival on December 10^th and 11^th from 10 AM to 5 PM. You can expect to find fun for the whole family! Children’s Activities, Wreath Making, Dance Performances, a Lighted Boat Parade, and even a Santa Pub Crawl! While the kids play make sure you get your Christmas shopping checked off your list. Who doesn’t like free movie night? Lulu’s is hosting Dinner and a Movie on Lulu’s Beach every Tuesday in December. Movies like Frosty, Polar Express, and Home Alone are on the agenda for the upcoming weeks. They will be serving complimentary popcorn, cookies, and hot chocolate. Make sure you bring a blanket or chairs to sit in as seating is limited. Tell your little one to look for the Lulu’s Elf after the movie to win a prize!

For the athletic crowd, Flora-Bama will be doing a “Make it to the Line” Run/ Walk on December 17^th. Their slogan is “Run, jog, walk, or crawl to the line at our 4 mile run/walk and 1 mile fun run.” The kind of energy we all have nearing the end of the year! There will be complimentary food and beverages available to participants immediately following the race. Registration is $30 and to the first 400 people includes a souvenir race shirt.

New Years on the Gulf Coast

Hey Friends! We have a few awesome events to ring in 2023 this year around the Alabama Gulf Coast. What sounds better than spending the day with your family ringing in the new year and then heading over to the Flora-Bama on Sunday for the Polar Plunge? If you don’t want to jump in you can always just watch!

For the little ones we have Lulu’s Noon Years Eve. The celebration starts at 10 am and will be centered around being kid friendly! Lulu’s will be having a sand-castle contest, face paining, live music, and even a countdown at noon with a beach ball drop. This will be so much fun for kiddos and their families to attend!

The Wharf will be hosting Reelin’ in the New Year starting at 5 pm- 11:59 pm on Saturday December 31^st! They will have a street party hosted by Pepsi, WKRG News 5 + Miller Light. It will be family friendly but also adult centered! They will be having a marlin drop at midnight and finishing with a firework finale! Come on out and bring the fam for a night full of memories!

There will be a New Years Eve Gala at Heron Point beginning at 8 pm- Midnight. This is a ticketed event put on by the Pleasure Island Junior Woman’s Club. There will be a cash bar, silent auction, and live music! All of the funds raised go towards clothing students in Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, and Foley schools. They are also accepting Silent Auction items for the event, so if you have items to donate they need them!

To end the weekend we have the Annual Polar Bear Dip at the Flora- Bama on Sunday, January 1^st! Come out and take a dip in the Gulf of Mexico and make a new family tradition. Goes that fully submerge in the Gulf will get a free draft beer and New Year’s Eve lunch!

Thanksgiving on the Beach!

Hey Friends! Thanksgiving can be the perfect holiday to make new family traditions. It doesn’t really matter where you are or what you are eating as long as you are gathering with your family. This could be the perfect opportunity for the family to get together and enjoy a new family tradition without the stress of making sure that everything is right. Bring the family down and just relax and let someone else do all the hard work!

Hangout Fest is hosting a Thanksgiving Dinner from 11 am- 4 pm. The price for adults is $32.99 and for children 5-10 it is $14.99. Children under 5 eat free! They are taking reservations for time slots and will be paid at the restaurant. The menu is full of classics as well as Gulf Shores Gumbo and Housemade Pie. What a perfect opportunity for the cook of the family to get to enjoy their meal too! Make a new tradition by spending it with friends and family at The Hangout.

This is Alabama will be presenting a Coastal Half Marathon on Saturday 26 in Orange Beach. There is a 1 mile fun run and a 5K that will be taking place. Click here for more info about this awesome event!

Come hang out at the Flora-Bama on Thanksgiving for a potluck dinner! They will take care of the Turkey and Ham, but ask that you bring a side dish! This event is free for everyone and they ask that they have your potluck dish in the tent by 12:30 and they begin serving at 1 PM. This is their way of giving back to the community and being able to celebrate with their guests and staff!

We have plenty of larger properties to sleep the whole family! We have a 5 bedroom Duplex in Fort Morgan that sleeps 10 called Deans Dunes. This property has a full kitchen just in case you do want to make the perfect Thanksgiving meal for the family. It also faces the gulf so you can enjoy the sound of waves crashing at night. The First Gulf Shores Food Truck Festival is coming!

Hey Friends! Coastal Alabama Food truck & Craft Beer Festival is coming to Gulf Shores November 12-13! The event begins at 11 A.M and ends at 6:00 both nights. Admission is free, but you have the option to preorder discounted drink tickets at the link here. You can expect to see around 20 of the most popular trucks and more than 30 national, regional and local craft beer trucks will also be there.

This event will be fun for the whole family! They plan to have a DJ and lawn games for people to enjoy. Make sure you bring lawn chairs/ blankets to sit on. Food Trucks like That’s What Cheese Said, Texan B’s BBQ, Wrap it up, and so much more. For a list of all the trucks and breweries coming click here. You can’t have a festival without a Kona Ice truck showing up either! Come out and try something new or stick to what you know, but its always nice to have options! There will be a few artisans out as well like Watercolor Villa and Southern Hemp Creations. Let’s show them some love and give them a reason to keep coming back year after year!

A Sandy Spooky Season

Happy October! It is hard to believe that Halloween is just around the corner. Little ghosts and goblins running around dressed in their costumes. What sounds more perfect than loading the family up for a weekend away. Dress them up in their costumes and take them trick-or-treating all while hitting the beach during the day! Here are a few events we have coming up this year around town.

OWA is having a few Halloween events of their own this year. They will be having Nightmare Chambers which will be going on every night in October! Tickets start at $19.99 for this event and can be purchased here. October 29^th, OWA will be hosting their annual Monster Bash Costume Contest! There will be cash prizes for 1^st-3^rd place as well as overall prizes. This event is open for ages 0-18+ and you can even compete as a team! On Saturdays in October, kids will be able to trick-or-treat as downtown OWA is turned into Halloweentown! The night is finished off with a halloween themed music and light show. For the spooky pawrents that want to participate we have a Howl-o-ween dog costume contest on October 22. There are over $450 in cash prizes that they have to give away! You can register online or in person. For something a little more low key come check out Halloween Movie Nights. Each Saturday in October they will be presenting classic horror movies. Tickets are $5 a piece or 4 for $15 with code 4PACK.

Are your little ones just looking for candy without the scares? The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo will be hosting Boo at the Zoo on October 29 from 9 AM to 12 PM. This is a scare free event with trick or treating and meet and greets from the zoo’s animal ambassadors. Make sure you wear your best costume for a chance to win a Golden Ticket!

On Halloween, at the Flora Bama there will be a costume contest with over $1,000 in cash prizes! First place takes home $600!! Even if you don’t win you still get to party at the Flora Bama for Halloween. Registration ends at 8:30 PM and the contest starts at 9 PM.

Freedom Fest Weekend in Orange Beach

Hey Friends! Cars, Live Music, Raffles, and Patriotic Spirit. What more could you ask for from a weekend at The Wharf? Freedom Fest is rolling into The Wharf on September 30th to October 2nd. They are going to be putting on a heck of a show for everyone. Free live music from iHeartRadio, door prizes that include a 50/50 drawing, and even fun for the kids! There will be a vendor area set up with a giant variety of food. Things like Barbecue Ribs, Crawfish, Burger, and Philly Cheesesteaks are just a few of the items on the list!

Bama Coast Cruisin’ is setting up September 29- October 1st from 9 a.m to 5 p.m. If you like cars this is the car show to come to! They will be set up and down Main Street showing off everything from antique trucks to classic hot rods. There’s still time to register your car and have everyone check your car out as well!

There are two ticketed events over the weekend. You can purchase tickets at Ticketmaster for both events. The first one being ZZ Top with special guest Jeff Beck at The Wharf Amphitheater on Friday night! This is going to be a great concert. On Sunday, The Wharf and Freedom Fest will be hosting a benefit concert for Folds of Honor. Folds of Honor is a nonprofit that provides educational scholarships to family members of fallen and disabled service members. The headliner is John Rich of Big&Rich! The show will start at 1 p.m. with two speakers. One being Ben Walborn, a former U.S. Navy Blue Angel and the next is Kevin Lacz. Kevin is the author of “The Last Punisher” and served with Chris Kyle “The America Sniper.”
