Dunes 308

"Perfect condo for a small family! We loved the view and how close it was to the beach, and there are a few restaurants nearby too, which was helpful when we didn't want to drive further into Gulf Shores. The condo is well furnished and had plenty of basic amenities. The indoor-outdoor pool was a big hit with our toddler and a great way to cool off in the afternoons after mornings at the beach. The rental company/property manager was quick to respond to texts and checked in on us after we arrived, which was very nice. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back for another family vacation. "

"We had the best stay at Dunes 308! The location is very peaceful and quiet. The condo was nicely furnished and decorated and the balcony was spacious. We had beautiful weather during our stay, met some friendly people, found a new restaurant we loved (Sassy Bass), and made some memories to cherish. My only complaint would be that the pool and amenities closed at 8 p.m. each night. We enjoyed walking the beach each evening.
Sunset Properties was great to work with, and they checked to make sure we had everything we needed during our stay.
Fort Morgan was such a nice change of pace for us!

"The condo was clean, and the grounds well maintained. Thankful the AC was on when we arrived. The "guest" at the last condo on our floor next to our condo were horrible.....They had young children who screamed all day and late into the night...the presumed mother was no better she constantly yelled and cursed the children. The walls are so thin and they were so loud that I could hear their conversations, music, and tv....some nights until 1 to 2 in the morning. If not for earplugs I would have contacted your office....thankfully I had earplugs otherwise we would not have been able to stay there."

"All in all we had a wonderful time. The condo was very clean and spacious. The beach was a little walk from our condo but we didn't mind too much. The only issue I had was the king size bed (which I was looking fwd to so much) was very uncomfortable and the pillows were flat. After a day chasing 3 kids around at the beach I wanted to come in and spread out on the big bed for a nice relaxing night but that wasn't the case. The positives certainly outweigh the bed though so I would definitely go back!"

"We stayed at Dunes 308 for four nights. There were 5 of us - me, my wife, our daughters (4 and 6 years old) and my mother-in-law. The condo is very well kept and furnished. I actually appreciated the normal decorations as opposed to the over-the-top beach theme a lot of condo owners go with.

The only part I don't give a perfect 5 stars is the property location. It's about 25 minutes from HWY 59 in Gulf Shores, so it's not convenient at all to make a quick run to the grocery store. Of course, if you want a condo closer to town you'll pay for it and we decided we were okay with the longer drive if it saved us a little money.

It takes about 5 minutes (maybe a tad more) to walk to the beach, but fortunately the entire path is paved (part sidewalk, part asphalt) so it wasn't too bad.

Overall it was a wonderful and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again."

"We had a wonderful Father's Day weekend at Dunes 308. The property was super clean and a joy to rent. The short walk to the beach makes it easy to enjoy the sun all day long. Checking in was a breeze as well as checking out. The kitchen was well-stocked and having a TV in each room afforded us choices for entertainment once we came in from the beach.

We noticed a sign in the elevator posting quiet hours between 10 pm and 8 am. Unfortunately our neighbors must have missed the notice. The walls in our bedroom were too thin and we could hear our neighbors carry on loudly until 2:30 am one night. That did not detract from our fun at the beach though. Perhaps the quiet hours should be posted inside each property in a conspicuous place.

By the way, if you need to use the elevator make sure to add 5 minutes to your plans. This must be the slowest elevator we've ever used. Fortunately we only used the elevator once when checking in. Access to the stairways is quick and going up and down the stairs is way quicker than using the elevator.

We really enjoyed being close to Fort Morgan as it made for a quieter beach experience away from the crowds.

"Sunset Properties always works with us on late arrivals and late departures, and the value is great. I think one big factor in the value is the fact that the location is pretty awful - Fort Morgan is a good 30 minute drive to and from Gulf Shores. For that reason alone, we are considering staying in the main part of town next year.

However, the privacy is great, the view is great, it's always nice and quiet, and as I said before, Sunset Properties is a lovely company to work with and the value is pretty great if you don't mind the driving - we like to hit up the town more than most might, so for us, it is a bit of a hassle, but for a quiet family retreat, The Dunes can't be beaten.

A huge complain I have is that while we stayed at The Dunes on Labor Day weekend of this year, the indoor portion of the pool where the hot tub is at was riddled with giant dead bugs and even a dead frog. Because of this, ants were SWARMING the entirety of the indoor pool area and even got in the hot tub, where we were bitten all over before we realized they were there. This was extremely disappointing, as the year before, our stay did not include any problems of this kind.

Despite the disgusting state of the indoor pool area, our room was spotless as always, and we enjoyed our stay a lot. I would not count on the lack of cleanliness and subsequent ant infestation being a regular problem at The Dunes or any of Sunset Properties rentals. Once again, if you don't mind the drive to and from Gulf Shores, the location is peaceful, and I recommend giving Sunset Properties a try."

"The condo was nice, but we wish there had been wifi. There was a router, but no service. I thought it was advertised as having wifi. (We had our 19 year old son with us and he would have been less bored with wifi). The sliding glass door that was supposed to open from the master onto the deck wouldn't open. The walk to the beach was not bad, and we enjoyed the quietness of the property. Overall, we enjoyed the stay! "

"The Dunes condominium we stayed in at Fort Morgan was probably the cleanest accommodation I have ever stayed in, and I am very particular. In addition, our condo was recently redone, tastefully decorated, extremely roomy and comfortable. The view from our enclosed porch was spectacular, and the beach is very unspoiled. There is only one restaurant within easy access of The Dunes, however Gulf Shores is only around 20 minutes away where there are plenty of restaurants and movie theaters, etc. The lack of commercial property is the primary reason the beach is so pristine (lots of people fishing in the surf). The Dunes condominiums are literally minutes away from the Dauphin Island Ferry so visiting the interesting island of Dauphin with their Estuarium and Bird Sanctuary was very easy. Don't bother to take your car on the Dauphin Island ferry. The Dauphin Island shuttle will take you anywhere you want to go at a very reasonable cost ($1 for adults and 50 cents for seniors). The Dunes are also located within minutes of a beautiful nature preserve and the Fort Morgan fort remains. We had a problem with the lock (it was temperamental to open the door), but the management responded very fast to this. Even when we called them at 11 pm regarding the lock, they were over at our condo in less than 5 minutes. We stayed in condo 308. The view, cleanliness, decor, size, and proximity to such a pristine beach leads me to comment that I would definitely go back and also highly recommend this accommodation to friends."
